We are the region's largest community interest basketball club operated as a social enterprise utilising sport generally, or basketball specifically as a tool for social change. We are dedicated to raising the life expectancy of local people by creating a sporting habit for life through the delivery of 17 sports, healthy lifestyle education, both accredited & non-accredited learning as well as employability skills training.
Our aims are to provide 10 new sports clubs in the most deprived wards of north Birmingham enabling local people to access sport in a fun inclusive environment. Our programmes aims to target 4000 members over the lifetime of the project establishing a sporting provision throughout the district that can be replicated city wide over the next 10 years. In addition, our aim is to engage with the hardest to reach groups in our society through sport in order to reduce worklessness by allowing access to our high quality volunteering roles for young people, students in need of work experience or the long-term unemployed who join our programmes as a way of re-integrating back into mainstream after years of economic inactivity.
Our mission is to achieve our stated aims by developing as well as utilising large high impact community programmes that our participants are able to access. Through our partnerships with Sport England, The National Lottery or the European Social Fund we are able to provide high quality work experience or volunteering roles for our participants. Our sports activities are focused at developing an inclusive ethos that enables people to improve their health through the opportunity of accessing physical activity that was designed with them in mind. Our programmes were designed to raise the participation levels of people of all ages living in our community. Much of what we do is about creating a behavioral change in the mindset of people; some of whom have never taken part in physical activity on a regular basis.
Our Key Principles
